Carrot Kosumalli

I can't eat any south indian food of mine without a vegetable. So even if I don't have any vegetable in hand or the time to cook, I atleast make this carrot kosumalli. This is my favourite and I can finish an entire bowl of kosumalli without sharing it with anyone. :-(

This is a very common item in all weddings and made specially during Sri Rama Navami although with cucumber.

Preparation Time : 20 minutes
Serves : 2

Ingredients

Carrots - 2
Split Moong dal  - 2 tbsp
Green chillies - 1
Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Grated coconut - 3 tbsp
Coriander - 1 tbsp finely chopped (Optional)
Oil - 1 tsp for seasoning

Procedure

1. Soak the moong dal in hot water for 20 minutes
2. Meanwhile, wash, peel and grate the carrots.
3. In a bowl, mix the carrots, chillies, coconut, salt and lemon juice
4. Season with mustard.
5. Mix the soaked and drained moong dal to this and enjoy.
6. You could add some finely chopped coriander.
