Kali


ThiruvadiraiHappens mostly in the end of December or first week of January. Arudra Darisanam, a festival dedicated to Lord Nataraja, is major event in the Shiva temples in Tamil Nadu. This festival is observed during the full moon night in the Tamil month of Margazhi (December/ January). 

Ingredients (Serves 2) 

Raw Rice - 1 cup or ground rice powder - 1 Cup
Grated Jaggery - 1 1/2 Cups
Water - 3 Cups
Cardamom - 6
Grated Coconut - 4 table spoon
Cashew nuts - 6
Ghee - 2 tablespoon 

Procedure

1. Wash the rice well and fry in a kadai until the rice turns golden brown.
2. Grind the rice to rava(sooji) consistency. 
3. Heat  a pan (On low- medium) take the grated jaggery and add water to immerse it completely.
4. When the jaggery dissolves, filter it.
5. Now place the dissolved jaggery on high flame and when it begins to boil  add the rice and keep stirring to avoid lump formation. .
6. Cook till the mix thickens and at the same time is loose and dry
7. Finally add the cardamom, coconut, roasted cashews, ghee  and stir in well.
