Ingredients
Dark Brown chick peas / Chick Peas – 2 cups
For seasoning
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard – ½ tsp
Urad dal – ½ tsp
Curry leaves – a few
Salt - to taste
Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Green chillies – chopped 1 tsp
Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
Procedure
1. Soak the chick peas for 8 hours
2. Pressure cook the chick peas for 4 whistles.
3. Heal oil, add mustard, when it splutters, add the urad dal, curry leaves, asafoetida, turmeric powder and green chillies.
4. Add the cooked pulse and salt to taste.
5. Mix the grated coconut and serve.
Note : On a non festival day, you could add some sliced onions instead of coconut and add some curry powder and lime.
