Puli Aval



This is a bangalore way of preparing aval. It tastes delicious with the crunchy peanuts.

Preparation Time :  30 minutes
Cooking Time :20 minutes
Serves : 2

Ingredients

Jada poha – 1 cup (grind for two seconds till it is a coarse powder)
Tamarind – 1 small lemon size ball soaked in water
Coconut – 2 tsp
Groundnut – roasted and shelled

To grind into a powder

Urad dhal -2 tsp
Chana dhal -2 tsp
Dhania – 2 tsp
Red chilli – 2 tsp
Seasoning – oil, mustard, curry leaves, asafoetida, turmeric powder

Procedure

1. Wash, drain and let poha soak ofr ½ hour.
2. Extract pulp from tamarind.
3. In a kadai, add oil and when it splutters, add mustard, curry leaves, groundnut, turmeric powder, 
    asafoetida.
4. Add the tamarind extract , salt and cook till the raw smell goes and the mixture turns thick.
5. Finally add the poha and cook till it turns dry and loose.
