Uppu Seedai



Uppu seedai is my favourite. This is normally prepared during gokulashtami / Krishna Jayanti.

Preparation Time : 30 minutes
Cooking Time : 20 minutes

Ingredients

Rice flour – 1 cup
Urad dhal flour – 2 tsp ( Dry roast broken urad dhal on low flame and when it is golden brown, remove from flame, let it cool and grind into a fine powder. You can prepare about half cup of flour and keep refrigerated)
Asafoetida – ¼ spoon
Salt – 3/4th tsp
Sesame seeds – ½ spoon
Grated coconut – 2 tsp
Butter – 2 tsp
Oil for frying

Procedure 

1. Dry roast sesame seeds till it puffs up and turns shiny
2. Mix all the ingredients including sesame seeds well with water and make a thick dough.
3. Make small marble size balls of this dough and keep in a cloth or paper.
4. Heat oil in a kadai, when it is hot add these balls in batches and fry on medium flame till golden brown in 
    colour.
5. Uppu Seedai is ready.
